Marion County Historical Society Director Amy Vandegrift is also co-chair of the Marion County Oregon 150 Committee, and while searching ways to link the local heritage with this state’s sesquicenennial celebration she hit on the suggestion to create a series of historical vignettes, brief stories about the region’s past from the time before statehood up to the present.

Diane Lewison Anderson is a Marion County Historical Society volunteer, grant-writer emeritus, and francophile who travels with her husband now and then to the mountains of southern France and other places where the food and companionship are excellent.   Her work and ideas got this project started and underway.

Stella Shaffer is a lifelong broadcaster and writer who put the finishing touches on research material and recorded the vignettes in preparation for their broadcast on local radio.
